Hellboy II: The Golden Army Movie Review!

.

Sorry for the late review as I was kind of busy these few weeks. Managed to catched Hellboy II: The Golden Army last week & it turns out to be quite a dissapointment for me. Everyone from the first movie is back once again teaming up with Director Guillermo Del Toro to bring us the sequel for the movie Hellboy & this time the movie kicks off with more monsters & action but lack of story line.

Official synopsis: After an ancient truce existing between humankind & the invisible realm of the fantastic is broken, hell on Earth is ready to erupt. A ruthless leader who treads the world above & the one below defies his bloodline & awakens an unstoppable army of creatures. Now, it's up to the planet's toughest, roughest superhero to battle the merciless dictator and his marauders. He may be red. He may be horned. He may be misunderstood. But when you need the job done right, it's time to call in Hellboy.

The only one thing that I loved most about Hellboy II is the makeup effect for all the monsters although sometime I feel like it was overly done. The movie is trying too hard to have those kind of a fantasy feel & the final result, everything is kind of jumble here & there. They don't seem to be connected with the story at all & the worst thing is, there isn't any story line.

As for the action part, nothing really extraordinary about it. For me, it just looks kind of weird to see Hellboy using all sort of kung fu moves while he was fighting. I was hoping to see more of him shooting & punching through walls. Well, to be honest, I was hoping to see him fighting with his long horns attached. Not really a major fan of the comic book so I'm not sure does he ever fight with the long horns attached. Other than that, the action sequences are just fine.

Overall, I would say that Hellboy II: The Golden Army is a movie that is neither great or bad. I believe the movie focusing too much on monsters & action but lack of story line which is the most important part. Well, it still makes a good popcorn movie & I believe for those who have watched Hellboy II will enjoy the movie anyway.

Hellboy was fun; for sure that director has an amazing imagination, reminded me a lot of his work in Pan's Labyrinth

Yar, it is fun, I agree with you on that. But I don't know man. It just feel messy to me & I was hoping for more instead of just about monsters & more monsters.

Music!
